Hari Ganglberger - Biography


Born February 20th 1966 in Austria / Europe. Raised in rural Perg.
Started playing Violin and Piano at age 8. After being a long-time closeted kitchen-utensil-drummer finally made the official switch to Drum Set at age 15. Drum lessons at the Perg Music School with Gottfried Haiml.

After jr. High School attended School for Graphic Design in Linz. Meanwhile played Drums for local Top 40, Pop, Rock and Jazz outfits.
1980 graduated from design school followed by serving as drummer/percussionist in the Austrian Army Music Corps (Marching Band, Big Band, Orchestra).
At this time also enrolled at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz, studying classical percussion with Johann Gschwandtner and Jazz with Adelhard Roidinger.
1988 relocated to Vienna to study Jazz Drums with Walter Grassmann at the Vienna Conservatory. Performed and recorded with renown Austrian artists such as Sumitra, Alex Machacek, Speak, Geri Schuller, Albert Kreuzer Big Band, Sunshine Records, Pogo, Vienna Sausages, Harri Stojka, Vienna Big Band Machine, Dzihan & Kamien, Sandra Pires, Walter Haberl and many more.
Tought Drums at the Vienna Conservatory Music School amongst others.

 
2000 relocated to New York City. Started performing with Indofunk and Manny Duran.
Later worked in Jazz, Rock, Pop and Singer-Songwriter circles with artists such as Admas ( produced by Bill Laswell), Phishbacher, Elisabeth Lohninger, George Garzone, The Fit, Jeff McErlain, Ellen Greene, GiGi, Zedicus, Ric Fierabracci, Mino Cinelu, Leni Stern, Tim Lefebvre, Chris Tarry, Vinnie Valentino, Nellie McKay, Beat Kaestli, I Love You, Brilliant Coroners.......
Extended tours in Europe, UK, Asia and U.S.A.
